The prices to go to the movies are ridiculous! There are so many other options out there that can cost less. Movies are free at the library. If your library has interlibrary loan, you should have a huge variety to choose from. Talk to your librarian to find out all the options that they offer. (My library also has music mp3’s that you can download for free.)
Based off of my local theater, a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) would cost $38.50 for tickets. A large popcorn, 4 drinks, and a box of candy is around 20 dollars. That's around $60 for a couple of hours of entertainment! Or you could have a movie night at home with a free rental, some microwave popcorn, drinks, and a box of candy for around $5. Plus, you are saving on gas. And an added bonus...no public restrooms! Just pause the movie, use your (hopefully) clean bathroom and you haven't missed a thing!
If you are a movie theater junkie, and just cannot cut it out, go to matinees to try to save a few dollars. Eat before you go and don't give in to the overpriced snacks.
